Subject description: The objective of the course is to initiate student's education on urban design and to teach a student to interplay with urban fabric, with stress on the following main aspects: (1) to interpret basic elements of urban fabric; (2) to assess cultural, spatial and infrastructural values of basic urban elements in a town; (3) to recognize, assess, compare and study basic urban problems in a city, including traffic parameters.

Skills: Basic study skills related to the recognition, assessment, understanding and describing urban fabric, including the following elements: spaces (streets, squares), borders (frontages-facades), greenery, infrastructure. Traffic parameters and urban landscape (urban silhouettes) should be assessed properly. Basic design skills and experience in preparing conceptual urban designs.

Subject description: This intensive course prepares the student with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for creating 2D drawings and 3D solid modeling, view manipulation of 3D models, and rendering of the abstract composition. The exploration of the composition shall be done directly with use of computer. Computer shall be treated as a design partner, when the search should be concentrated on the new imaginatory and composition possibilities.

The framework course program includes creation of simple architectural objects by CAAD software using. Elaboration of 2D technical

drawing.

Skills: Students will have knowledge of using of CAD software in architectural design.

They learn basic AutoCAD commands, which allow him to draw the plans, sections and facades.

Subject description: The main objective is to learn freehand drawing as the language of visual communication in space. The working objective is to acquire freehand drawing skills that include aesthetic problem solving related to the issues of displaying building interiors and urban architecture and space.

The supplementary aim is to familiarize a student with basic techniques of artistic painting (poster paint, watercolour, pastel drawing), and the development of student's individual aesthetic perception, with the focus on colour perception. The method is to explore the colour compositions through the sequences of brightening colours and monochrome sets and compositions; exploring colour contrasts and compositional forms.

Skills: A student should be able to recognize and utilise the following aspects of freehand drawing:

· a study of a building interior;

· a study of a scenery;

· aesthetic problem solving;

· implementation of lines, surfaces and light;

· freehand drawing of a perspective.
